Was in 512th Jan 70 to Oct 70, maintenance driver, looking for anyone was in pleiku when we came under mortar attack and the headquarters swimming pool got blew up! Need estimated date of that attack.
I was assigned to Camp Addison from 1968 Thru 1969 August, 669 Trans, assigned to a Gun truck. The Addison Camp wasn’t bad sitting on QL-19.
Have only located one GI from the 669 Trans in all of these years.. Great guys and miss the late night Beer Parties the Burning of the “tons” of Streaks once and awhile..
Would love to hear from someone who was there….

I made a lot of trips up QL19 to An Khe and the next week to Pleiku, all of 1970. At the end of 1970 pulled the 4th ID out of An Khe with a good send off on the pass. Was in the motor pool a lot too. Changing tires on the pass was not fun. Thank GOD for Iron Butterfly, Steppin Wolf, Black Widow and Eve Of Destruction. Thank you guys! I worked on all those trucks even from other companies. We even got to the Cambodian border at one point past Kon Tum. What a ride!
Hey friendsGood to hear from survivors. Lost 1 hometown friend KIA and 2 others from Agent Orange a year or so after they got home. 1970. Sgt Simons was the platoon leader, anyone remember him? Rippee was a cool dude. Said when he got home was going to drive a truck for a living.Chuck Geiler 512th. Jan thru Dec 1970
I never made it up their an after seeing a big Black panther cat an number of times at night come down to the open right up to the raiser wire right out side the officer club when on guard duty working the big lights an saw it’s eyes.
I was CC with 512th and road the Iron Butterfly several times from 11-70 thru 5-71. I am heading back to the Highway QL19 and take the journey from Qui Nhon to Pleiku and enjoy it this time.
Aw then you must have known Tim Rippee a red headed guy as him told over running the IB gun truck. Hooked up with him at a few reunions until he passed away at about age 57… Any way enjoy your trip back in time. I was thinking about returning myself but then thought hell remember where an what would, I eat.. A friend son an girl friend went to nam an got very sick by using ice in there hot tea as to make ice tea. This was about 8 yrs ago.. Now days nam is no cheap like we knew it it’s as much if not more then the old US. Rich M

I think you guys helped convoy the big guns from Bet Het to Arty Hill in Pleiku. November 1970. We were darn close to the Cambodia/Laos border.
I left Jan.!st. an I know the 512th moved so it’s very possible.
